Mengyi is interested in how cells with the same genetic material diversify into specialized cell types. Previously, she was trained in developmental biology and function genomics with a focus of early cardiac lineage during her PhD. Now in the Kriegstein lab, she hopes to apply cutting-edge genomics approaches to understand gene regulation in cell fate specification during brain development and evolution.
